Dawn’s Amazing Space Cuts a Dash

For many years, it’s been an insignificant landmark for passers-by heading to and from Glasgow to Milngavie by road or rail and locals in the Hillfoot area of Bearsden.

But over the last few months a drab former painter and decorator’s hut has gradually been transformed into an ‘amazing space’ by hair stylist Dawn Richardson.

Tête-à-Tête is the name of this petite new hair salon, which sits directly opposite Hillfoot train station.

Former Vidal Sassoon director Dawn, who lives in Blanefield, remodelled and designed the interior herself.

With its distinctive grey-green exterior and orange window, Tête-à-Tête has been attracting admiring glances from passers-by who have watched it transform over the last few months.

Dawn said: “From the moment I saw inside the hut I could see its potential. It was unloved and very shabby but not in a chic way!

“I gradually worked away at it over the summer with help from my two sons and friends. Everyone’s started to call it Dawn’s Amazing Space but I had a very particular vision of what I wanted it to be like.

“I am famous among my friends and clients for my love of transforming interiors. I love getting my sleeves rolled up with a project like this. I wanted Tête-à-Tête to be a comfortable and stylish space which people enjoy coming to.

“The name for me reflects a simple one-to-one approach with my clients. My philosophy with hair and to style in general is that it takes a wee bit of effort to look effortlessly stylish.”

Tête-à-Tête is now formally open for business.
